Happy 7th Birthday Wendy Harding Designs!

Many thanks to all my loyal customers, especially those of you who were around when Wendy Harding Designs was aka "Ring Tailed Tooters".  Hard to believe I've been working in wire for almost 10 years & still having a blast!

  • SPECIAL ORDERS: Deadline is approaching!  All special orders must be placed by Oct 15 in order to assure delivery by Christmas.

About Me

I began my artistic endeavors delving in the wonderful world of quilting, even to the point of teaching quilting classes. However, I found my true calling working in wire and glass. I am the wife of a wonderful career military man and mom to two kids (16 & 13 years, respectively). My glass work keeps me sane!

I never would have discovered the world of wire art if it weren't for 'Operation Enduring Freedom' in Iraq. That does sound strange, doesn't it? My husband, Craig, was sent overseas to a desert far, far away. To keep his spirits up, and to give him something to look forward to when he returned, I told him that we would go and do anything he wanted to do when he came home. To be honest, I was really hoping...."Cruise!"

But...

Craig, a woodturner, wanted to go to the John Campbell Folk School in North Carolina to take a woodturning course.

My first reaction was, "Where?" Then the next question was, "What is the John Campbell Folk School?" (If you want to check it out yourself, we highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!) Once he was enrolled, I had to pick out a class for me to take. I found the only other thing being offered at the time that looked interesting was a wire jewelry class. Happily, a few months later Craig returned home safely and off we went to Brasstown, North Carolina. I loved my class and absolutely fell in love with wire!

Working in glass came a just a couple of years later. Like most wire jewelry artists, I was purchasing my stones and glass from others. There came a point when I just couldn't get what I wanted and couldn't exactly explain it to the glass artist I was working with. My husband got tired of listening to me complain and bought me a kiln for Mother's Day that year. (Thank you, Honey!) After getting over my initial terror of working with a tool that gets up to 2000F, I found myself up to my elbows in glass (and band aids!). It's just so much fun!

We have recently relocated back to our home state of Texas and are thrilled to be here, however long the Air Force decides that will be, in San Antonio.

New Quality Control Measures Instituted

Here at Wendy Harding Designs quality control is important to us... We recently acquired a new quality control division to supervise my work. We'd like to introduce our new QC supervisor, Maggie, watching me work in the studio. She's tough. Would you believe she just doesn't care about my fragile, creative, artistic feelings?

If she doesn't like it...it goes on the floor.
